At National Discount Coins we realize how blessed we are to live and work in a free and bountiful country. Unfortunately, not everyone around the world has been afforded the luxuries that we and our children take for granted daily. Having been raised with the philosophy that "where much is given, much is expected" I'm pleased to announce our pledge to The Slate Foundation, a non profit organization, to donate a percentage of our net profits to them on an ongoing basis.

Bill Slate and his wife, Madison, began their careers as documentary filmmakers 10 years ago. Recently, Bill and Madison traveled to Africa to film a series of wildlife documentaries about indigenous wildlife and much to their disbelief couldn't find any animals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). As shocking as this seems, the fact of the matter is that due primarily to war and famine, poachers have killed virtually anything that breathes in the DRC for food. Even more shocking is the fact that most of these poachers are actually young widows trying to feed their children! Bill immediately created his foundation, invested in some land and started a chicken farm and a cassava field, which is a root plant and staple crop for people living in tropical countries where potatoes won't grow. Bill's efforts also include providing medicine, food, and clothing to orphanages in the DRC and Uganda, as well as, educational materials to a college of Biology and Conservation in the DRC. His hope is that if the people have an opportunity to manage their own supply of meat such as chickens, cows, goats, etc., they'll stop poaching and eventually the indigenous wildlife will come back.

Our pledge to The Slate Foundation, of course, is made possible by you, our clients. So, I want to sincerely thank each and every client that has ever done business with me and/or my company, because without you, this pledge would never be possible. Please take a moment to visit The Slate Foundation website at: www.theslatefoundation.org  See for yourself the good work they're doing. If you wish, there are also a number of ways to contribute. In addition to funding, a lot of what would be discarded items here, would be greatly appreciated over there. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I know you will be rewarded in the long run! Incidentally, Bill and Madison did eventually find plenty of exotic animals in Uganda and have an unbelievable video on their website that everyone will really enjoy.

Thanks again!

Mike
